Light and airy, this is not! Sick and twisted, deep and dark, intense and disturbing, but what a freaking ride! If you are a fan of Holly Hood than you have learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to her writing. My fandom began with the Wingless series, continued with Ink and now Love Hurts.

Love Hurts is not your normal love story, by any means! This is a story of the ever popular Incubus that is NOT romanticized. The males in this story are severely messed up. Sam is running from his evil past while Frankie simply embraces his evil ways. Sam is desperately trying to fight his urges for the love of his life while Frankie stumbles across something that he is scared to admit. The two brothers are undeniably at odds with each other, their relationship strained, at best, but as the story begins to unfold, Holly Hood does a great job of relaying that the brothers' do actually care for the other(even if they don't believe they do).

Holly Hood has a way of writing that draws you deep into the story of each character. The characters are all meaningful with their own places, never just a part of the story. They are the story. Love Hurts was written in a different tone than Holly Hoods other books(that I've read), we were privy to the perspectives of all characters involved. This allows the reader to become more engrossed in the story and the many layers of the characters.

Beware the cliffhanger! As soon as you read the last two words, you will be aching for the next book! I know I might just die of anticipation! This book is not recommended for anyone under the age of eighteen, but if you are fortunate to be older, than I recommend you dive right in! Satisfy those dark urges!
